Durability of clinker reduced shotcrete: Ca2+ leaching, sintering, carbonation and chloride penetration

چکیده

Abstract The reduction of clinker use is mandatory to lower the negative environmental impact concrete. In shotcrete mixes, similarly case conventional concrete, supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and proper mix design allow for substitution without compromising mechanical properties. However, on durability needs be further assessed understood. results from present study, obtained real-scale sprayed concrete applications, show a Ca 2+ leaching sintering potential clinker-reduced mixes due presence SCMs. This positive effect, crucial low maintenance costs tunnels, mainly related reduced portlandite content, which other hand negatively affects carbonation resistance shotcrete. Additionally, hydration SCMs positively influences chloride penetration presumably combination microstructural changes in binding capacity. Differences found pore size distribution various have determined parameters, particular compared effect inhomogeneities produced during application.

Progress of Carbonation in Chloride Contaminated Concretes

Concretes used in marine environment are generally under the cyclic effect of CO2 and chloride ions (Cl -). To date, the influence of carbonation on ingress of chloride ions in concretes has been widely studied; in comparison, study on the influence of Clon the progress of carbonation is limited. During the study, concretes were exposed to independent and combined mechanisms of carbonation and ...

Concrete Carbonation and Chloride Resistance Under Initial Hot Water Curing

Three concrete mix proportions were designed and prepared, respectively, such as fly ash concrete (abbreviated as “FAC”) with 30% fly ash replacement ratio of cement, fly ash, and slag concrete (abbreviated as “FSC”) with each of 20% fly ash and slag replacement ratio and ordinary Portland cement concrete (abbreviated as “OPC”) for the research of carbonation and chloride resistance of concrete...

Effect of carbonation on the leaching of organic carbon and of copper from MSWI bottom ash.

In Flanders, the northern part of Belgium, about 31% of the produced amount of MSWI bottom ash is recycled as secondary raw material. In view of recycling a higher percentage of bottom ash, a particular bottom ash fraction (Ø 0.1-2mm) was studied. As the leaching of this bottom ash fraction exceeds some of the Flemish limit values for heavy metals (with Cu being the most critical), treatment is...
